During Worship

Our weekly worship services are brought to life through the dedication and heart of our volunteers. If you’re looking for a way to connect and serve, there are many roles where you can make a difference! You could be an Acolyte, assist with the Altar Guild, help share Communion as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, read scripture as a Lector, sing in the Choir, welcome guests as an Usher, or bring joy to others by hosting Breakfast or Coffee Hour.

Every role is an opportunity to share your gifts and become part of a welcoming community. We warmly invite you to volunteer and serve alongside us, sharing in the joy of creating a welcoming worship experience for all.

For more information or to volunteer, please call the Parish Office: 302-227-7202.

  • Lay Eucharistic Ministers & Lectors

Each Sunday, the priest celebrating the service is joined by dedicated individuals who assist in various roles at the altar. Lay Eucharistic Ministers help distribute the Holy Eucharist, ensuring all are served with reverence and care.

Lectors read the appointed lessons, bringing the scripture to life, and lead the prayers of the people, inviting the congregation into shared moments of reflection and petition.

Together, these roles create a collaborative worship experience that enriches the service and draws us closer as a community in faith.

    Acolyte

Acolytes assist during services, lighting candles, acting as crucifer, and carrying torches and banners in processions.

If you wish to serve in any of these capacities, contact xx.

  • Altar Guild

Altar Guild members prepare the altar for services and keep all linens and sacred vessels clean and ready. They maintain and install the seasonal hangings on the altar, pulpit, and lecturn, wash and iron used linens, polish silver and brass vessels, and keep an orderly sacristy. The Altar Guild leader prepares the yearly schedule, recruits, and trains new members, communicates with clergy, staff, and other members about specific requirements, and makes sure all supplies and cleaning materials are on hand.

  • Ushers

Ushers greet worshipers each Sunday morning as well as at numerous other services held at our churches during the year. Duties include opening the church and adjusting the heat and air conditioning for comfort during worship, helping people to seats, distributing bulletins/programs, passing the collection plates, and directing worshipers to the altar for Holy Eucharist.

After services, the ushers ready the church for the next service as well as tally the collection. Men and women are welcome to this important service to the church. If you are available to usher even on an occasional basis, we would love to have you join us!

  • Choir

The All Saints’ Church & St. George’s Chapel choirs enrich our services with worship music in a variety of genres. Conducted by music director Jon Rania and assistant organist Steve Snoop, they lead selections from the 1982 Hymnal, as well as the Lift Every Voice and Sing (LEVAS) and Wonder Love and Praise hymnals and other sources. Each church has their own choir, and they periodically combine to provide a full, dynamic sound. Music at our Saturday evening service is more modern and usually accompanied by guitar. These are volunteer choirs. If you wish to join, please contact Jon Rania (jonrania@allsaintsandstgeorges.org). For more information, see details in the Music Ministry section.
